6 PM - 7:30 PM, November 5 (Tue)
Korean Cultural Center, Abu Dhabi
Baru Gongyang is a formal monastic meal using baru (wooden bowl), which is more of a meditation than a simple meal. The main meanings of Baru Gongyang include ‘Equality’ – everyone having the same meal regardless of who one is, ‘Purity’ – having a clean meal with clean bowls, ‘Honest Poverty’ – taking only the right amount one can finish, ‘Community’ – sharing the same food, and ‘Good Luck and Virtue’ – appreciating every effort put in the meal and vowing to fullfill one’s own responsibilities.
During the session, participants will experience this practice of Baru Gongyang, with a meal that Jeong Kwan has prepared.
